Vintage Middletown plate company silver plated vegetable serving dish is in good use-able condition. picture shown above. Included with this silver plated piece is the original blue & white enamelware dish, along with it's silver plated ring cover. Some loss of silver plating, but you can always have it re-silvered. Lid top is slightly bent. Measurements: 6 1/2in. tall from top of lid to bottom, 10 1/2in. wide, 2in. deep.
History: The Middletown Plate Co. With the close of the Revolutionary War, a new era commenced in the history of Middletown. From being a place of the greatest commercial importance on the banks of the Connecticut River, & the center of the great West India trade ( which added so much to the wealth of the town), it was soon to become the great manufacturing center of the State. Middletown Plate Company, established in 1863 By Edward Payne. Located in Middletown Connecticut, USA The company organized in 1866, under the general law, with a capital of $20,000. 200 people employed at that time. Manufactured fine silver plated ware.
